Return to Nature with Adventure Quest of the Quad Cities!
Enjoy
the abundant wildlife! Take a hayrack ride! Thrill to the natural beauty
of the rolling farmlands and prairies.
Take the Environmental Tour – Great Learning Fun for Classes and
Other Children's Groups!
We offer guided field trips on a hayrack around the newly restored Tall
Grass Prairie. Ever wonder why Illinois is called the Prairie State?
Illinois was covered in prairie for 15,000 years, but it only took 50
years to convert all the prairie ecosystems to crops. Learn to identify
the prairie grasses, wildflowers, birds, and prairie animals.
Learn about the
prairie schooners, sod houses and what their ancestors had to endure to
make the prairie their home. Did you know that the Algonquin word for
prairie is "Muscatine"? What is the "Red Buffalo"? Come find out!
We
also include in the field trips all the highlights of Adventure Quest.
Kids will have the opportunity to ride the Zip Line and even pan for
gems! Each student will be given a claim to The Gem Mine, where they
will scoop sand and water and hidden gems into a screened pan. The sand
falls through the screen leaving the gems. These are real gems:
amethyst, garnets, citrine, topaz, quartz, and many more. This is also a
treasure for the children to take home. Teachers too! We will provide a
wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about the prairie and
their environment as well as have a fun time for an affordable price.
