EDUCATIONAL ADVENTURES |
Dear Educators,![]() Are you looking for a new and exciting educational experience for your students? We are proud to invite you to experience Adventure Quest of the Quad Cities, offering guided field trips on a hayrack through newly restored Tall Grass Prairie. Do your students ever wonder why Illinois is called the Prairie State? Tell them that Illinois and Iowa were covered in prairie for 15,000 years, but it took only 50 years to convert almost all the prairie ecosystems to crops. Your students will learn to identify the prairie grasses, wildflowers, birds and prairie animals. We have planted three miles of wildflowers and each season provides different flowers, and the late summer brings the monarch butterfly migration. They will also learn about the "Prairie Schooners" and the pioneers and what their ancestors had to endure to make the prairie their home. Did you know that the Algonquin word for prairie was "muscatine"? What is the Red Buffalo? Come find out! We are also offering with the field trips, the highlights of Adventure Quest. There are several other things to do, such as: the 400 ft. zip line ride over the prairie; the corn maze; low ropes obstacles and team building; exploring the many trails; sand volleyball; inflatable games; and panning for gems. When panning for gems, each student will be given a claim to their spot on the flume line, where they will scoop sand and water into a screened pan. Every section of the flume line is guaranteed to have over 1,000 carats of real rough (their natural state) gems: rubies, garnets, topaz, amethyst, citrine, aquamarine and more. These gems will be theirs to take home. We will provide a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about the prairie and their environment, as well as have a really fun time for a very affordable price. Come for an hour or stay all day and roast hot dogs. For more information or reservations, be sure to e-mail us or call (309) 523-3619.
